In this article I will talk about the season changing fever here in Barcelona and how I got sick from food poison.
The season is changing.
From the 26 degrees in October, to 16/17 on the first week of November. That’s mad!
After 4 days of partying with my Italian friends ( il buon Volly e Andrea) I started the Dry November and so far so good! Those days left me a little bit upside down, and I started to have a little bit of cough.
Throughout the week things got worst and every time I went to sleep I felt to cough constantly.
The Spanish class
After few days not able to sleep properly I was already feeling weak, but I decided anyway to hang out with my Spanish class.
We are hanging out sometimes to enjoy the life outside from the class in different restaurant: previously we tried Korean food, this time Moroccan food, next time is gonna be Indian!
However the dinner ran smooth, and when I came back home I went directly to sleep.
I started coughing badly, so I remembered a hot ginger drink that Eva once gave me to calm down my cough.
Not finding the ginger, I used lemon.
The Moroccan festival
Oh god, after the first drop of lemon touch my stomach I had to run to the bathroom.
It came up so fast that I could not even reach the WC it self.
I ran but it just EXPLODED in my mouth, and I tried to keep it with my hands but it was too much so it felt all over the floor.
After the big first round I had to reach at least the bathroom, but I got all the vomit on the floor and I couldn’t walk there.
So I had to step in, because the second was about to arrive.
Eventually I MADE IT to the WC and I felt freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
The party ended around 3.30am, with me mopping the floor.
The day after
The day after I woke up and tried to work, I got couple of calls and that was it because I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
For this reason I called the doctor to ask what I have to do.
IF is not COVID case now you have to call the doctor, you can’t just go there. SO I called, but guess what.. IT IS ALL IN CATALAN !!!
On the phone the guided messages are all in Catalan, and I couldn’t understand a single word.
HOW CAN BE THE PUBLIC HOSPITAL SPEAKS ONLY A REGIONAL DIALECT ?
Is like if you get sick in Napoli and you try to call the hospital they will talk to you only in Neapolitan… COME OOOON!
The show must go on
So I went to sleep and I woke up at 2pm.
I stood up, went to bathroom to pee.
In the mid session, I felt a very weird pressure on my kidneys, and suddenly my heartbeat started to jump.
I was still peeing and I felt those cold sweating vibes coming from the back, and I though: I’m gonna collapse now.
So I called Eva, with still my thing in my hands ( how embarrassing), and get her help to stand up.
I put my wrist and face under cold water, and I sat down for 20 minutes in front of the WC it self.
Feeling very weak.
2 is better then 1
Following the afternoon from the my bed, very weak I started hearing Eva feeling sick as well.
She came to me saying that she wasn’t very good, and though she was emphasizing me because she loves me very much….
But then I heard her vomiting from the bathroom, so I jumped off my bed and ran to her.
Incredible she got sick as well.
Here a question is it possible that if you got food poison you can pass it just by kissing or maybe just sahring a glass of water ? Is it a volatile disease?
Definitely the sickness of Eva woke me up a bit, making me think: ok now we go to the hospital.

Interesting how from the app, no taxi driver were available to take us to the hospital… so We pick a cocktail bar just next door, and they were happy to take us there.
However the hospital was empty, lucky for us.
After a quick check in, they checked us both for Covid, and the result were negative.
My pressure was sky high, 38C of fever and difficulties to breath.
They told me I should have come earlier.
Eva was fine just had her stomach up side down and felt a bit sick.
Now I’m sick at home, with a huge pack of medicine, enjoying my Friday and the resto ofthe week end.
Last night I woke up just once to cough and that was it.
Hopefully I can recover soon!
