Finding the right Barber

Fabri About Life, About Spain

In this article I will talk about my relationships with barbers.

The idea of this article came to me yesterday, after finally getting a NICE haircut.

After almost 2 years of RANDOM Barber, I got finally a great haircut.

Let me start from the start

Growing up I use visit a barber near my Nonno’s mechanic shop, in Milan city center.

Over here we used to go to a barber called Gino.

Gino the Barber, is there anything more Italian then this?

For 20 years I use to get the same hair cut, the same chat, the same jokes at the same price: first in Lira then in Euro.

Naturally it was Nonno’s favorite place to go, for a chat with a friend.

Nonno and Gino
Till 2012…

Then in 2012 I moved in Australia, and that was a different world.

They use to rock this: the legendary MULLET

So for the time in the land down under, Eva use to trim my hair.

And she was pretty good!

In the outback…
Back to Europe

Then I started working and travelling around Europe, and my experimentation started.

At the end of the day I just need short on the side and longer on top, how hard is gonna be?

I always looked for the cheapest way.

My budget was 5 to 7 euro.

One time in Athens I went to this place, where the barber use to smoke inside, and every time he cut near the hear, it was like I was smoking…

The Czech one it was COLD like ice, no words were said and an hair cut that would make happy LENIN! Very Square!

Getting and Haircut in Barcelona

Since I’m here in Barcelona I kept my idea to my trim cheap.

I found Redu, with 7 euro he was cutting my hair…. Ok.

Ok for customer service, but haircut it was very average.

He got this ONE CHAIR shop, where he always tried to keep it busy. That’s why if you were late 2 minutes to the appointment he was start calling you. ” Where are you Flablicio?”

Then I moved house and I tried Wajid for 5 euro.

Wajid is brand new around here, and I don’t think he never worked before in his life.

When you pass by his hop is always set on a couch watching movies or other things. He never looks busy, and so I though let’s go.

Once I entered he looked at me, and I looked at him, for 3 LONG second.

I was waiting for something like ” HELLO, please take a sit”.

Instead I received a ”…”

I had to break the silence ”Can I sit?”, ”Yes” he said.

Overall was an awful experience.

Finally Venezuela!!!

Yesterday I tried this new barber near by my place, I took appointment and once arrived he was waiting for me.

Good chat, but not too much I’m tired I don’t want to talk. I think they are Venezuelan !

He spent 30 minutes to do my sides, and 10 for the top.

40 minutes for his work, 12 Euro.

I was shocked how crazy cheap was. I will go back !

Overall

Finding the right barber isn’t easy. Everyone want something different: the cheap one, the cool one, the fancy one etc…

I guess for us man is kind of easier, but for women must be harder! I’m sure.

Also I never complained to any barber I went because if I pay 5 Euro for an Haircut I should be happy to have some hair still attached to my head!
